Description:

The tour begins as we travel to Old San Juan “The Walled City” surrounded by massive City Walls and several defensive structures. Our Tour Guide will tell us about Puerto Rico culture, and geologic history as we travel.

 

Our second stop will be at the Paseo La Princesa, from there we can take a better look of the 42' fortification walls. We will walk this promenade and enter to the city thru the San Juan Gate. As soon as we enter we will see that the Spanish Colonial Legacy still remains unchanged in the streets of the city. Cobble stone streets, interior patios, hanging balconies, plazas, and chapels are among the permanent features of the Old San Juan City.

Next stop we made our way to Castillo San Felipe del Morro, overlooking the entrance to the San Juan Bay. It is one of the largest fortifications built by Spain in the Caribbean, its foundation was laid in 1539.

After you see the fort you will have some free some time for Lunch and Shopping!

Schedule:

Old San Juan Tour or Old San Juan & Bacardi Factory Tour departs daily year round. The pick up from Isla Verde or Condado area is at 8:00am and from Fajardo or Rio Grande area (EL Conquistador Resort, Rio Mar Resort, St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort or Gran Melia Resort) is at 7:30am .
Pick up time can be customized at your convenience to suit your specific requirements.

 

What to Bring & Wear:

  • Comfortable Cloth - Puerto Rico falls into a tropical climate zone with average temperature of 85 °F (29 °C) to 90 °F (32 °C).
  • Sunscreen - Avoid raidiation from sun that can cause you second degree burns, remenber you are in a tropical island.
  • Sun Glasses 
  • Walking Shoes - Be ready to walk all day.

The Spaniard Colonial legacy still remains unchanged in the streets of Old San Juan. Cobble stone streets, interior patios, hanging balconies, plazas, and chapels are among the permanent features. But the most outstanding features of the city are the ancient fortifications that defended Old San Juan. Surrounded by massive City Walls and several defensive structures, these include the 16th century Fort San Felipe del Morro, 17th century San Christopher Fort, and the 16th century El Palacio de Santa Catalina also known as La Fortaleza, which serves today as the home Governor of Puerto Rico.
A good view to The Walls and the City Gate is from Paseo de la Prinsesa. Those who walk along this promenade will be able to appreciate a rare view of the Executive Mansion and enter through the San Juan Gate. Paseo de la Princesa has a beautiful view of San Juan bay and in the distance you can see the Fortin El Cañuelo and the Bacardi Distillery.
